Beauty Within

In Romans 12, Paul tells us that we should not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds.  Then we will learn to know God’s will for us, which is good and pleasing and perfect.  God wants to remove our doubts, feelings of worthlessness and helplessness.  He wants us to find our confidence in who He says we are, not what people or the world determine for us.

I spent the past 20+ years hiding from my past trying to swallow the pain back down over and over.  I believed that I was disgusting, useless, fat, stupid, underserving of any goodness, unlovable, unworthy….  These words and the shame I carried kept me in hiding.  I didn’t want to be known or seen.  I wore baggy clothes, avoided mirrors, blew off compliments, and never used my voice.  My identity was found in the words of others, what the world defined as acceptable, and my mind believed it to be true.  It is so freeing to finally understand and accept that this isn’t what God wants for me or you.

Are you letting someone or something of this world define who you are?

You can choose to continue to believe things that are not from God, things that may alter your thinking and the choices you make.  You can continue to believe the lies of the enemy who prowls around like a lion looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8).

But I can testify that this isn’t what God wants for you.  He says that you are not the mistakes of your past, not the sins of your past, not what the world is telling you is true.  You ARE created in His image (Genesis 1:27), wonderfully made (Psalm 139:13-17), love and accepted (Jeremiah 31:3), for a purpose (Ephesians 2:10), and He wants you and your story to be known.

Come out of the lies and into the light.
