Know His Presence – Know His Peace

Maybe your heart needs a little compassion today? You’ve lost your zip and you just want to take a nap, hoping that when you wake up your stresses are gone and problems are solved.

You’ve received well-meaning, good advice and encouragement from friends, but the words just aren’t connecting with you. They aren’t lifting the heaviness. The words are going in one ear and zipping through that cute head of yours faster than you can hear them before they exit through your other ear.
Even the hope-filled words from the Bible seem dry and distant.
We’ve all been in this place.

Here’s a suggestion to help you keep going – with a lighter heart.
Read Psalm 139:5. Open your Bible and read it if you can, to help you remember it is God’s sacred message to you. If your Bible isn’t handy, just read the words here.
David is saying to God, “You hem me in – behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me.”
The Voice
translation makes it feel even more personal:
“You have surrounded me on every side, behind me and before me, and You have placed Your hand gently on my shoulder.”

What comes to mind when you see someone gently place his hand on someone’s shoulder? It feels so personal, doesn’t it? It’s a gesture that says I care. I’m here. I see you. It’s tender. Compassionate.

So. If words are just too much to think about, consider this.
God knows what’s happened to you in the past. He sees every detail of your today. And He knows what’s ahead – including the good things He has planned for you.

And what is He doing? He’s placing His hand gently on your shoulder. I’m here. I care. I understand.
His presence brings you peace.

No more words for you. Just sit and feel God’s compassionate, loving hand on your shoulder.
