When the Fire Burns Bright:
Why the Battle Feels Harder When You’re Walking in God’s Will
By Sarina Randazzo
There is a tension I haven’t been able to shake lately. On one hand, I see God moving—clearly, undeniably, beautifully. Lives are being changed. Families are encountering Him. Doors are opening. Provision is showing up in ways that leave me in awe. There is fruit—real, tangible fruit.
And yet, at the very same time, the weight feels heavier than ever. Leadership has felt isolating. Staff transitions stretch the heart. Addressing unhealthy patterns is exhausting. At times, I feel like a punching bag for frustration that isn’t mine to carry. There are moments I question myself—my calling, my capability, even my identity—wondering how I can feel like an imposter while standing in the very place God has called me to.
How can both be true?
How can God be working so powerfully… while the burden feels so intense?
The answer is not comfortable—but it is clarifying.
Because when God is moving, the enemy does not sit idly by.
Scripture reminds us that we are in a spiritual battle, not against flesh and blood, but against forces that seek to divide, discourage, and destroy. And when your life is bearing fruit, when you are walking in obedience, when your “yes” is impacting others for the Kingdom, you become a target. Not because you are failing. But because you are effective.
The enemy does not waste energy on stagnant ground. He works hardest where the fire is already burning. And his tactics are often subtle, not spectacular. He whispers shame when you’re already weary. He plants seeds of doubt in moments of leadership. He magnifies criticism and minimizes impact. He isolates you, convincing you that you are alone. He distorts truth, making you question what God has already made clear. His goal is not always to destroy your work outright—but to exhaust your heart enough that you begin to pull back from it. To dim your own light. To second-guess your calling. To disengage from the very place God has positioned you. But here is the truth we have to hold onto:
Opposition is not evidence of failure. It is often confirmation of purpose.
If you are feeling the weight right now, if you are navigating tension, resistance, or deep discouragement while also seeing glimpses of God’s goodness, you are not alone. You are not off track. You may, in fact, be exactly where you are meant to be.
To the woman who feels like she is carrying more than she can hold…
To the leader who questions herself after every hard conversation…
To the one who feels misunderstood, unseen, or quietly unraveling behind the scenes…
Take heart.
The battle for your heart, your mind, and your intentions is real, but it is not unwinnable.
You do not have to accept every thought that enters your mind.
You do not have to carry every accusation placed on your shoulders.
You do not have to internalize every criticism as truth.
You can fight back with Truth.
When shame creeps in, remind yourself whose you are.
When doubt grows loud, return to what God has already spoken.
When isolation tempts you, lean into community instead of away from it.
When exhaustion sets in, rest but do not retreat.
Because the Light in you was never meant to be hidden. And it certainly was never meant to be extinguished. If anything, this season—the tension, the resistance, the heaviness—is revealing something powerful: Your life is making an impact.
So don’t give up.
Don’t step back.
Don’t let the enemy win ground in your heart, your mind, or your calling.
Stand firm.
Not because you feel strong—but because He is.
Even here. Even now. Even in the tension.
God is moving so let your fire burn bright.
