Getting to know Melissa!

Hello Friend — I’m Melissa

If we were sitting together over coffee, I’d probably start by asking you a question.

Not the typical “What do you do?” question.

But something deeper.

Something like:

“What do you feel like God has placed inside of you that you haven’t fully shared yet?”

Because that question has shaped so much of my life.

My name is Melissa Hughes, and I spend my days helping Christian women find the courage and clarity to express what God has placed inside of them — through their voice, their story, and their work.

But this didn’t start as a business.

It started in a valley.

Years ago, my husband and I moved to the UK to help plant a church. What we thought would be a season of excitement and calling quickly became one of the hardest seasons of our lives. My husband experienced a serious accident, I became his caregiver, and life felt very far from the vision we had imagined.

There were moments in that season where my faith felt stretched thin.

Moments where I wondered if God still saw us.

If He still had a plan.

But what I didn’t realize at the time was that those painful seasons were shaping something inside of me — a deeper understanding of God, of identity, and of calling.

Eventually, I began sharing small pieces of my story online. Nothing polished. Nothing strategic. Just honest reflections about faith, life, and what it looks like to follow God when the path isn’t clear.

To my surprise, women began responding.

They would message me and say things like,

“I feel like you’re speaking directly to me.”

And I realized something important.

So many women feel a fire inside of them — a calling to encourage, teach, lead, or create something meaningful — but they don’t know how to put it into words.

They feel unsure of their voice.

Or they wonder if their story even matters.

That realization eventually became the work I do today.

I now help women clarify their message, share their story, and build personal brands that reflect the calling God has placed on their lives. Through speaking, coaching, and my program Firebrand Academy and Rise Social Media Agency, I help women step into greater clarity, confidence, and visibility.

Not for the sake of influence.

But for the sake of impact.

Because I truly believe this:

Your story is not random.

The things you’ve walked through, the lessons God has taught you, the moments that shaped your faith — they are often the very things God wants to use to encourage someone else.

And sometimes all we need is a little help learning how to share it.

Outside of work, my favorite roles are being a wife and a mom. My husband and I have two wonderful kids, and our home is usually filled with Legos, baking projects, and big conversations about life and faith.

Life is full, messy, and beautiful.

And I’m still learning every day what it means to follow God’s leading one step at a time.
