Devoted to the Word

Devoted to the Word

Are you like me? Do you have a million excuses for not digging into the Word and reading your Bible? I know when  my girls were small I felt I had no capacity or space for even a verse. Now they are older and their extra curricula’s. Right? Always an excuse…

But God wants us to grab a cup of coffee and the Word and dig in. I know that for me some days it is a short devotional that is on my phone or email. I have purposefully signed up for daily emails to get the Word because I look at them everyday even if I don’t sit with coffee.

Let’s take a look at a beautiful letter that has changed Ezra’s life. Ezra was “the Father of Judaism” a great leader of the Jews in Babylon. In Ezra 7:1 it says “After these things…” after temple completed, dedication taken place, insulation of the priests and Jews had celebrated Passover (Ezra 6:15-19) Ezra received the letter. Ezra had the hand of the Lord on Him and a lot of wisdom. Ezra received a letter saying he would receive a large sum of money.

Ezra was a man of God and a man of prayer! He used this to lead a second return to Jerusalem.

I never studied Ezra until an acquaintance at work asked me about him because a friend of hers had just named her son Ezra. As I look at his life I am amazed by his investment. His investment in prayer and study of the Word.

Do you need to stop, push pause, and just take time with the Lord today? He is waiting for you. He is calling your name and wants you. I encourage you to be known like Ezra as a man of prayer and a man devoted to God’s Word.
